Client Access to Integrated Services and Information (CAISI)
Background:The CAISI project aims to reduce the plight of chronic homelessness by enhancing the integration of care between agencies at the individual and population levels using an electronic information system.
The project includes:
1) The development of the open source system software.
2) Building community and agency capacity in using the system to integrate care between agencies. At the individual level, the project includes the rapid assessment of clients, referral to appropriate shelters and agencies, managing waiting lists into services, support multi-agency case management ultimately leading to client placement into appropriate housing or community placement. At the population level, the project enhances the ability of the community to gather data that can be used by activists and decision makers to help effect positive social change leading to the end of chronic homelessness. That is, advocate for more affordable and supportive housing and more appropriate facilities (e.g. client centred harm reduction long term care programs) for clients the community currently finds difficulty caring for.The system is client centered, clients give access to agencies to enhance the integration of care they receive. Clients are helping inform how the system will function. The project is being developed by front line agencies to improve the care of their clients. The software is an enhancement and expansion of the OSCAR McMaster system, an open source Ministry of Health approved electronic medical record. It includes integration with major community IT networks among agencies caring for those who are homeless. These include shelters, drop in centres, outreach teams, hospitals, public health and Toronto ambulance. The approach is an 'open development' or 'just do it' approach with a release early and often philosophy. Users are co-developers who work with program developers and software programmers to make rapid improvements to the system on a real time basis. The software is open source meaning that it is owned by the community and can be freely downloaded and enhanced by anyone.

FAQ'S
How quickly can I start working? If you successfully pass the pre-interview screening, you will be invited to complete a Voice Audition so we can learn a bit more about you. If we feel that you meet the qualities of a successful phone agent your training will start immediately.
How can I work from Home?As long as you have access to high speed internet and a working computer we simply send the tech support phone calls over the internet to your home. This technology is called Voice over IP. When a client calls our tech support number it is sent to our head office via traditional phone lines. Then we convert it to digital and send it via the internet to your Voip ATA adapter. You would simply pick up the phone as normal and assist the client with there problems.
Do you pay for the training?Yes. You will be paid for trianning
What is the process for sending/receiving pay?We pay all employees via direct deposit into their bank accounts
"Would I be doing telemarketing (calling people to sell them things)? We do not do any outbound telemarketing.
What kind of support will I have while I am working? What if I have questions?Even though you will be working from the comfort and quiet of your home, you will have the support of your program team. We always have team leaders, coaches or support agents, particularly knowledgeable about your program available to you in secure chat rooms, as well as by phone. Similarly, we provide round-the-clock technical support in the event that you have any problems with any of our telephone or computer systems.
Are there an average number of calls I would be required to take during each hour I work?In order to operate as efficiently as possible for our clients, you probably will receive calls in a fairly steady stream during each work shift. The ability to handle those calls with the appropriate balance of good customer service and efficient resolution will be one of the things we will train you to do well.
Do you provide me with a computer? No, we ask that you already have a PC with the Windows operating system.
How will I be trained? All of your training will be done online or over the phone similar to online college courses. The training will be either self-paced/independent or lead by a trainer (or a combination of both).
Do I need to leave my home for training? No - you will complete all training from the comfort of your home.
Will I be required to take a test after training? You will be tested at various points of your training to ensure your ultimate success once you commence taking calls.
