Senior Bookeeper...MUST be local to Calgary

Our client is a regulatory consulting company based out of Calgary, Alberta, and they are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to keep their financial affairs in order.

The main purpose of this position to ensure that their accounts are up to date (journal entries, reconciliation), processing invoice payments, paying vendors, watching their budgets, making deposits, writing cheques, and providing the President with regular financial reports on the health of the business.

Their company is composed of many consultants, and they all work from home offices. The Senior Bookkeeper (SB) will also work from his/her home office, and will work 40 hours/week. Regular meetings in person and by phone with the President (located near downtown) are expected, likely once per week for one hour, and once a month for several hours. The SB is expected to have access to transportation to meet with the President on a weekly basis (preferably by car). A computer and phone will be provided if needed.

The SB should have a sunny disposition, 5+ year of bookkeeping and tax experience in Canada (not just abroad), and proficient in QuickBooks desktop version. The SB should have a working knowledge of accounting principles, providing their accountant with the necessary data to file their corporate return (completing a corporate tax return an asset). The ability to file personal tax returns for a few of their employees is considered an asset. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and email a must, as well as a fast typing speed. Fluency in French considered an asset though not necessary. Must have excellent oral and written English proficiency.

This is a permanent, long-term position, and the SB is expected to provide a modest amount of administrative support to the President and other consultants in the firm. However, most of the work is financial in nature.

The salary for this position will be between $45,000-$50,000 based on experience.
