Freelance Summary Writers, Canadian Case Summaries - Home Based
Location: Across Canada
We have immediate contract openings on our home-based freelance writing team. You will write case law summaries for use in various LexisNexis® digest products. This includes identifying and classifying legal issues in Canadian case law according to a legal taxonomy.
You have a Bachelor of Laws degree, strong analytical skills, and a keen attention to detail. You must be able to write in a clear and concise manner in accordance with prescribed guidelines. The ability to function independently and cope with competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment is essential. Previous writing experience is preferred. You must be able to save files in Microsoftâ Word format.

Legal Editors - Home-Based Freelance Positions
Location:

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Managing Legal Editor, you will:
Identify and classify legal issues in Canadian case law according to a legal taxonomy
Review and edit case law summaries to meet editorial standards
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Laws degree
Strong editing, proofreading, and grammar skills
Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to reach productivity targets and work under tight deadlines
Proficiency in the use of office software programs, particularly Microsoft® Word
Computer requirements:
Applicants must possess Microsoft® Word 2003 and be able to work in a PC environment

Home-Based Freelance Writers - 6-Month Contract Positions

Responsibilities:
We have immediate contract openings on our home-based writer team with the possibility of extension. You will write case law summaries, in French and/or English, for digest products on the Quicklaw™ service.
Qualifications:
You must have a diploma or university degree in Civil Law. An interest in reading and writing and good analytical skills are required. Strong French-writing skills are a must. If you can write adequately in English, please indicate this when you apply. You must have a personal computer and an email address for this home-based position.

Create/revise classification systems for legal topics
Conduct legal research necessary to perform the above task
Perform other related duties as required
A Bachelor of Laws degree
Strong knowledge of / experience with one or more legal practice areas
Strong editing, proofreading, and grammar skills
Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to reach productivity targets and work under tight deadlines
Proficiency using office software programs, particularly Microsoft® Word
Previous experience in the creation of legal classification systems / taxonomies would be an advantage
