SDI Media is presently seeking energetic, detail-oriented Bilingual Freelance Gaming Translators to join our growing and dynamic team.
THE POSITION Translate/QC content for games (in-game text, dialogue, user manuals, etc.).
Downtown Toronto (but can work from home)
REQUIREMENTS: - Must have strong bilingual grammar skills in their native language
- Computer literate
- Must be an avid gamer with online and/or offline games
- Must be a detail-oriented, versatile and flexible team player who is self-motivated, responsible, hard-working, innovative and dedicated
- Working knowledge of game QA methodology and terminology
- Understanding of and desire to work in the gaming industry
Applicants must have a strong comprehension of the English language and must be well-versed in American and native-language slang, colloquial expressions and gaming protocols.
We are looking for translators who are able to work on games in the following languages:
French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish (Castilian/Latin American), Portuguese, Icelandic, Dutch, Norwegian, and Finnish.

POSITION SUMMARY: The English Subtitle Editor will spot, simulate and proof film-related content for any/all of the following mediums: DVD, Broadcast, streaming media, dubbing, gaming and corporate projects.

The successful applicant will be able to do the following:
Complete work assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
Possess the aptitude to learn specific, subtitle-centric computer programs.
• Pay great attention to detail.
• Able to apply studio subtitle protocols as needed and adhere to all special instructions.
• Work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to work independently and as a team player.
• Be proactive and communicate problems/issues/developments effectively to supervisor, peers, and/or internal staff as needed.
• Help out with other duties in department as needed.
• Attend departmental or other meetings as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS Excellent command of the English language
Excellent organizational skills with project ownership attitude
Excellent computer skills (Office 2003) Knowledge of video or audio editing software a bonus
Experience in tasks requiring extreme accuracy

Simulate, correlate, spot, proof, transcribe, and translate subtitles for television programs and films.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform any necessary activities for International QC i.e., simulate, correlate, spot, proof, transcribe, translate or perform any other tasks that are required for all SDI Media Canada’s products and services.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Adheres to company policies and procedures.
Adheres to full-time/part-time/on-call schedules.
